The weekend of June 14th was an absolutely incredible weekend for movies. Anxiety was only a character in the movie and not found in the box office numbers as Inside Out 2 earned over $154M (wow!) and the box office did over $214M. The Pixar favorite's success at the box office matched its success with critics and fans alike, scoring a 91% critic and 96% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. This smashing success is further proof of the power of high-quality, family-friendly movies being one of the strongest drivers for movie ticket sales.

But it's not only family-friendly movies that do well, in its second weekend, action-comedy Bad Boys: Ride or Die, still earned over $33M which is quite impressive with a huge release like Inside Out 2 claiming 75% of all ticket sales.

This is the first time since we started putting out our ranker that the top two movies have claimed 89% of tickets. These titles claimed so much of our donut chart that it made the most sense to only include the top two films this week!

The closest any two films have come to matching the above dominance was over the weekend of April 7th, 2023, with the release of The Super Mario Bros. Movie and the third weekend of John Wick: Chapter 4.Those two titles claimed 80% of all tickets, still falling short 9% compared to the latest weekend!

Looking ahead:
A Quiet Place: Day One is the next biggest film coming June 28th, how many tickets will it claim?
