National Cinema Day Propels Barbie Back to the #1 Movie | Weekend of August 25th, 2023

National Cinema Day drives people back!

The weekend of August 25th included the annual National Cinema Day which drove audiences back to the theater.

Barbie returned to her throne at the top of our ranker while the new Gran Turismo film almost usurped her, earning more box office dollars but less ticket sales (due to National Cinema Day's cheaper tickets on Sunday the 27th).

It was a close top three between a pink icon, a decades-old racing franchise, and a blue super hero.

TMNT and Oppenheimer rounded out our bottom two, Oppenheimer still managing to cling onto its top 5 spot!
