Sonic Holds Strong as 2024 Box Office Closes | Weekend of December 27th, 2024

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 maintained its lead at the box office, securing 26% of ticket sales and 23% of revenue ($37M) in the final weekend of 2024. Mufasa: The Lion King also held steady, with both films capturing a combined 46% of box office revenue and 48% of all ticket sales. Nosferatu demonstrated strong performance, ranking #3 in revenue despite its R-rating and Christmas Day release.

The year concluded with a total box office revenue just $389M shy of 2023, a gap likely attributed to the underperformance of Joker earlier in the year. Despite this shortfall, 2024 saw a robust recovery from the pandemic, with 648 releases compared to 2023's 592. Movies on the silver screen are trending upward!
