The weekend of July 5th was one for family animation as Despicable Me 4 earned $75M, claiming 50% of all ticket sales while Inside Out 2, in its fourth weekend, earned $30M and claimed 20% of all tickets. That's 70% of all tickets going to just those two family-friendly titles.

A Quiet Place: Day One claimed our third spot in its second weekend, earning over $20M and claiming 12% of all ticket sales. That's no small feat with two huge animated titles to compete with.

Combined, the top three movies claimed 82% of all ticket sales and earned over $125M with the total box office claiming over $150M. This is the fourth weekend in a row over $150M, proving that cinema is certainly alive and thriving.

Looking ahead:
Fly Me to the Moon and Longlegs come out this weekend, both boasting strong casts. How many tickets will they sell? Will they be able to overtake either of the animated blockbusters?
