Twisters Storm to the Top of the Box Office | Weekend of July 19th, 2024
The weekend of July 19th was, you guessed it, yet again another successful box office weekend! That is the seventh weekend in a row that the box office has done over $100M. This time it was propelled by the sequel of the 1996 film Twister. The sequel, Twisters, exceeded expectations, earning over $81M and claiming 54% of all tickets. The disaster movie also performed quite well on Rotten Tomatoes, earning a 76% critic score and a 92% audience score!
Unsurprisingly the next two top movies were the family-friendly blockbusters, Despicable Me 4 ($24.4M) and Inside Out 2 ($12.8M), each continuing to stick around. Inside Out 2 was in its 6th weekend! Taking our 4th and 5th spots were Longlegs and A Quiet Place: Day One, both in the horror genre.
Looking ahead:
Deadpool & Wolverine is coming out this weekend and is predicted to do $160M+, how many tickets will the film sell?
